In issue #2, the Odyssey crew encounters the Erazi. The Erazi are a militant, xenophobic (an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange) race. 
They have an intense hatred to outsiders. Great expense is made to protect what they think are their borders. 
All of their resources are funneled into maintaining their massive space fleet. Military personnel wear heavy battle armor at all times. Denotation of rank is signified by the color of their armor. 
Purple is used for those in command positions, while green is for those of the lower ranks.
